Band Story

Artist Dar.RaTitle:The Soul Hours Label Kusha Deep RecordsThe Soul Hours is a brand new album out on Kusha Deep Records by an Artist called Dar.Ra which is currently breathing life into the radio and film world around the globe. The album already described by some as ‘Brit Soul At Its Finest’ has just been licensed to the American TV network ABC for a forthcoming movie and will be getting a release through one of the biggest distributors of music in China in the next few months. The singles Fly 2 Nite and Start Again have warmed the airwaves of  UK Independent Radio over the past few months, which is adding to the profile of the album.Written by Dar.Ra over a ten year period while living in Australia, NZ and the UK that gives the music a well travelled feel, expressed in tracks like Shadow Of The Sun and Start Again. The whole concept of the recording is based on recurring themes, such as breaking through the trappings of expectations that society places on us, from cradle to grave and above all asking questions like why we carry on living lives that we are not happy being in.As you listen to songs such as Pressure and Let Love Be Your Religion you are lifted by the rousing soulful rhythms’, but as you tune into the actual words you start to hear the underlying themes being cried out. Songs such as Fearless and Red White and Blue pay homage to the troops serving in the theatres of conflict and though like many support them, still ask why its necessary for humans to have to resolve differences this way, its an old paradigm that has never served anyone other than the people holding the strings. There are however tender moments on this recording such as a beautiful ballad called Safe In Ur Arms which is passionate and a well arranged track with a string quartet, Spanish guitars and a powerful vocal seen through the eyes of lovers apart, and wishing for reunion.Dar.Ra’s credits go back to the 90’s when he was signed as an artist to Chrysalis/EMI and achieved a top 40 with a band called Taste Of Paradise. He then went on to have a big dance hit with 21st Century Records with an act called Bliss on the hugely successful ‘Havin It in The Uk’ series. His remix credits also include Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Tears For Fears, Savage Garden and also had a number one dance track with Urban Harmonix called ‘The Pleasure Zone’ feat Rachel Brown who had also worked with Faithless and Groove Armada. Throwing away his dance floor production tricks Dar.Ra opted for a strictly live feel on the album, everyone had to do their parts in one take. Soul Hours has just been featured on ABC TV for a film starring Hilary Duff in the US featured album and artist of the week on Spains Heart FM and also been giving the thumbs up by The Whos Roger Daltery.Kusha Deep Music 2010For further information and links to Itunes visit! http://www.kushadeep.co.ukSoul Hours is also available fromhttp://www.junodownload.com/products/1536538-02.htm
