Band Story

In a world where the media seems to control our every thought and action, we find ourselves flooded with bands that have also fallen victim to the epidemic. Most Rock'n'Roll singers today mimic one another until they are all lost in the sea of sameness. I was starting to lose faith in Rock until I heard the album "Right Where You Are" by Tony d'Mattia. Filled with purity and honesty, there is nothing premeditated or predictable about this album. This is because Tony d'Mattia (a.k.a. fiz) played all the instruments on this album and also produced it himself. Tony keeps it real and diversified. The album starts with the title track "Right Where You Are" which has "radio hit" written all over it, then immediately shifts gears to "U Lied", a song Tony wrote on the mandolin, which has a more of a Middle Eastern feel to it.

Born and raised in New York,Tony has been performing a refreshing interpretation of pop/rock for over a decade. Playing music for a living, Tony is constantly writing and recording new material. This is what makes him a great songwriter and a great performer as well. Playing everywhere from the bars of NYC to restaurants in the Hamptons, he can adapt to any crowd and any environment you throw him in. "I love playing for the crowd, making them happy, whether there are a couple of hundred people there or no one, I always give it my all", says Tony.

Growing up listening to artists like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Marvin Gaye and many more of the greats has given Tony not only strong, grounded roots in Rock'n'Roll but also a strong sense of self. "I write what I'm feeling at the moment", says Tony. " Sometimes we're sad, sometimes we're not, so I can never understand why some bands out there only write dark, angry songs all the time. I'm not afraid to write very different sounding tunes... The Beatles did, yet nobody seems to remember that. Many people seem to think your songs need to all have the same sound and format. That's what I don't like about the music scene today."

With one album under his belt (the critically acclaimed Transcending) and now "Right Where You Are", Tony sends you soaring on a rollercoaster ride of life's ups and downs, giving you all he can bring. Tony ends the new album with a song he wrote on 9-11 called "Our dream". An extremely deep and sincere song that not only comes from the heart, it hits you there when you hear it. "The only thing I could do when I saw the towers fall was to walk over to my piano and express my feelings through my music. We live in troubled times but I know we will shine through. With love and understanding we shall prevail".
