Richard J. Falcon Jr.: A Sonic Storyteller in Strings and Soundscapes
For over three decades, Richard J. Falcon Jr. has carved a unique path through the ever-evolving world of instrumental music, fusing classical training with rock energy and emotional resonance. What began on the dusty roads of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, playing in rock bands throughout the late ’80s, has grown into an international career spanning multiple albums, awards, and global distribution.
Falcon's musical journey took a pivotal turn in 1990, when a record producer asked him to compose an instrumental piece—no vocals, just pure sound. It was a creative challenge that would spark a lifelong passion. With four years of classical guitar studies and a music degree under his belt, Falcon found his true voice not in lyrics, but in melody. Since then, he’s composed over a hundred original instrumentals, three of which led to a recording contract with Carefree Records in 1996, including offers from several international labels.
In 1999, he signed with Damage Records and released his breakthrough album, Send Angels, in 2000. With over 2,000 CDs sold and growing radio interest, the album catapulted Falcon into the instrumental spotlight. In 2001, his track “All The Lonely People” earned Phi Theta Kappa’s Outstanding Art Project Award for the Kansas Region. Public radio took notice—stations like High Plains Public Radio, Radio Kansas, and Eagle Radio added Falcon’s music to their playlists, expanding his reach across the American heartland.
Moon Dance, released in 2003, pushed his sound further, garnering rotation in Canada via Shades of Classics in Winnipeg and catching the attention of Raptor Productions in the UK and Club Round Table in the U.S. Falcon's ability to craft sonic moods—from ethereal and meditative to bold and cinematic—earned Moon Dance a dedicated following. It also led to distribution deals with CD Baby, Music Oven, and numerous digital platforms around the world.
In 2006, he released Creation, a collaborative album featuring regional talents Steve Generaux, Jessica Tarman, and Mary Ann Chabaan. With over 1,300 digital downloads across iTunes, Napster, and MusicNet, the album demonstrated Falcon’s commitment to community and creative collaboration.
His music now spans more than 60 global download sites, with all three of his albums—Send Angels, Moon Dance, and Creation—available internationally. Falcon's work has even found a home on SiriusXM, a significant milestone for any independent instrumental artist.
Today, Falcon continues to compose and perform, driven by a deep belief in music’s power to move, heal, and connect. His catalog is a journey across emotional landscapes—no lyrics needed, just sound, spirit, and soul.
So listen. Reflect. Feel. And join Richard J. Falcon Jr. on a musical path that continues to grow.
