Dan Wos & the Rise of a Rock Revolution: From U.S.Bandit to Albany’s Sonic Awakening

It all started with a few ads in Aquarian Magazine and The Village Voice, but what erupted was far more than anyone bargained for. Enter U.S.Bandit—a full-throttle, theatrical shock rock outfit that hit the New York City scene like a Molotov cocktail through a velvet curtain. Unapologetic, electrifying, and dripping with spectacle, the band carved its name into the East Coast rock circuit with a blistering debut album and a tour that left ears ringing and stages smoldering.

At the heart of this sonic uprising was Dan Wos, a frontman with the grit of a road warrior and the instincts of a showman. After wrapping up the U.S.Bandit tour, Wos returned to his roots in Upstate New York—but he didn’t come back to rest. He came back to ignite.

Albany was long overdue for a jolt, and Dan Wos was holding the defibrillator. He began assembling a new band—one built for sweat-soaked clubs, guitar duels, and unforgettable nights. First on the list was a drummer with thunder in his hands and flair in his soul. Word spread: call “Johnny B.” And when John Buehler showed up, trailing a cloud of cigar smoke and armed with a bag of bone-rattling beats, the band’s pulse found its rhythm.

But they weren’t done. The sound needed teeth. Enter Glenn Winroth, the quiet storm from Saratoga Springs. If his voice barely registered in the green room, his guitar did all the talking once the amp lit up. Together, Dan and Glenn formed a two-man six-string juggernaut, trading leads like lightning bolts and unleashing wah-soaked solos and talk box insanity that made crowds drop their drinks and stare. When these two lock in, it’s a masterclass in guitar wizardry—pure electricity in human form.

Rounding out the lineup was the final piece of the puzzle: bassist Stan Lenic. He was invited to sit in on a gig in 2005, and one set was all it took. With a low-end punch and groove that made the walls hum, Lenic brought the band its missing muscle—grit, groove, and a little bit of menace. He didn’t just join the band; he completed it.

With a setlist that ricochets from Godsmack to a revved-up rock version of Funkytown, and a stack of originals like Burn Out, Voodoo Man, and Wild Child, Dan Wos and his crew don’t just play shows—they deliver full-blown rock experiences. Every performance is a reminder that raw energy, tight musicianship, and pure love for the game are still alive and kicking.

This isn’t just a band—it’s a movement. A loud, snarling, sweat-drenched revival of what rock and roll was always meant to be: dangerous, thrilling, and impossible to ignore.
