TheTurn
Band Story

Phil Gardner (drums)
Don Beaudoin (Bass)
Corey Crawford (Guitars)
Patrick Gavigan (Vocals/Guitars)

Teaming up with producer Frank Gryner (Rob Zombie,
A Perfect Circle) theTURN have crafted ten epic songs
to be released early 2008.

theTURN won 99.3 the fox's (CFOX) annual seeds
contest in 05/06. The same contest that helped launch
the careers of International Recording Artists Nickleback,
Default, Bif Naked and Mathew Good. theTURN has played
over 150 live shows over the last year and a half, keeping
sharp opening for artists such as Faber Drive, Mariana’s
Trench, Lillix, the Trews, Ill Scarlet, Danko Jones, and the Armchair Cynics.

When it came time to record their first record they caught
the attention of Frank Gryner and started carving out the
album. “Recording in Vancouver at the Factory Studios
and mixing in Hollywood at the Chop Shop was a great
experience for us” says Patrick Gavigan “we had a chance
to really explore without limitations, we didn’t have to worry
about the quality of the equipment or the tones we were
getting it was all about capturing the right performance”.

Hitting the road in spring 2008 theTURN is ready to set
a new standard for West Coast Rock.

theTurn combines infectious, addictive hard rock anthems
with terrific vocals and great musicianship. With superb
stage presence and energetic performances, their music
is best experienced live, but that didn’t stop them from
getting plenty CFOX airplay and charting, first with “Cut to
Pieces” entering at 5 but two days later clinching the 2 spot,
and second with their second single “The Innocence you Fake”
coming in at 3.

They also shot a video for “Cut To Pieces” which was added
to the Much Music web site AXS and now sits in their “Top
Rated Videos”. The Turn has become something of a fixture
on the Vancouver airways performing acoustic versions of
their songs for the Fox on the 6 O’clock rock report on many
occasions. The response was so great; they released some
of the tracks on myspace page for download.

The band was formed in early 2004 and soon after that they
won themselves a spot on the 99.3 CFOX Seeds compilation
CD. The bands are selected from over 500 entries from
Vancouver and surrounding areas. With their very first
performance on stage the band won a spot on the coveted CD
a great start to flourishing career.

Over the course of the next year the band collected other
accolades to add to their resume. The Emergenza festival
is the largest battle of the bands in the world with over
7500 bands playing for the top spot. The Turn took home
two awards from the Vancouver finals:
“Best Drummer”
“Best Vocalist/Guitarist”
...but that was not the end things to come.

At the 2005 New Music West conference “Patrick Gavigan”,
the bands singer and rhythm guitarist, was again awarded
“Best Vocalist” the band was then invited to play at the
“Best of the Fest” encore showcase. Again over 500 bands
were involved with the festival only 4 were asked to play
at that show.

theTURN bassist Don Beaudoin studied at one of the
country’s best music schools; Cambria College. Lead
guitarist Corey Crawford brings a unique approach to
his instrument, while adding tasty lines and colorful
accents to the music he plays. Drummer Phil Gardner
is quickly building a reputation as one of Vancouver's
best. His articulate and aggressive style is essential to
producing the rhythmic back drop that drives the Turn’s
music. Patrick Gavigan is the band's vocalist, rhythm
guitarist and principle songwriter. His style defines the
sound of theTurn. A dynamic presence on stage, he
delivers his vocals with a smooth ghostly timbre and a
powerful consistent growl. His tight guitar work and
choice of melody set off this explosive band in the studio
and on stage.

Their name is about the choices in life; the good and bad,
the yes or no, that single moment of decision and the
consequences that follow, we all have them - ‘theTURN’

"If I was a betting man, my money would be on theTurn.
I've watched them grow to become talented, hard-working,
self-motivated musicians who write great rock songs, full of
hooks and what I call "The Head-Bob Factor". Plus they're
nice guys. Watch for them to break out of Vancouver in
2008. theTurn is poised to be the Next-Big-Thing out of
Western Canada! You can bet on it!!"

Todd Hancock, Afternoons and 6 O’clock Rock Report Host
CFOX 99.3 the Fox, Vancouver B.C.
