ATOMSMASHER: Smart Rock That Hits Hard

ATOMSMASHER delivers ultra-catchy, guitar-driven power-pop infused with dynamic twists and turns that keep listeners hooked. Their sound is a compelling blend of influences—ranging from The Beatles and Pixies to XTC, Julian Cope, George Orwell, and even Stanley Kubrick. At the center of it all is singer/guitarist Ed Marshall, whose unique songwriting style has produced an expansive catalog of tracks, forming the backbone of the band’s substantial and ever-evolving repertoire.

Their high-energy performances across New York City and the surrounding areas have earned them a loyal following. Unlike many contemporary acts, ATOMSMASHER blends powerful rock with complex three-part harmonies, creating a live show that’s both musically rich and unmistakably distinctive.

The band first broke into the spotlight with a bang—landing their song “Lovely Head” on the WB sitcom Nick Freno: Licensed Teacher. Riding that early momentum, they released their acclaimed debut album Up & Atom, which featured standout tracks like “Sick,” “Maybe,” and “5 Day Weekend.” The album generated strong college radio airplay and captured the band at an exciting creative peak.

Now, ATOMSMASHER has returned with a bold, self-produced album: All Around The World. Recorded in Ed Marshall’s own suburban New York studio, this album marks a significant leap in both musicianship and sonic clarity. “We took the time to learn the technology so we could fully express our ideas,” says Marshall. “It also freed us financially to work at our own pace until we were satisfied. It took a while—but I’m ecstatic with the results.”

And the results speak for themselves. Songs like “She Was Gone,” “High,” and “Very Hungry” highlight ATOMSMASHER's trademark mix of thoughtful lyrics and alt-rock firepower. The band continues to explore new musical territory with 13 tracks that traverse a spectrum of rock styles—yet each one remains unmistakably ATOMSMASHER.

With the addition of new bassist Stephen Scollard joining keyboardist Brett Erenberg, drummer Ron Cohen, and Ed Marshall, the current lineup represents the strongest and most polished version of the band yet.

In an era of cookie-cutter rock, ATOMSMASHER stands out. They’re a band that thinks and rocks—and they’re only just getting started.
