Rahat

Band Story
Rahat is an up-and-coming rapper from The Bronx, born in Sylhet, Bangladesh. He first began developing his interest in music the summer before his freshman year of high school by listening to his favorite rock bands, including Linkin Park. Initially, he tried his hand at singing, but he soon realized that his smooth yet staccato voice was better suited for rapping and speaking the word of the street.
He soon began dabbling in music production as well, experimenting with various techniques such as sampling and original compositions. When Rahat first started rapping, he admits that it sounded more like "reading words off of a page really fast" and was made worse by the fact that he "had the world's crappiest mic to record on." Over time, his flow evolved into something more mellow and, frankly, more sexy—two traits that are enough to wow any crowd, though he modestly confides that he is "still practicing it" for good measure.
Rahat has collaborated with several artists, including Dave Shady, Jake Zhang, Haze, White Tiga, Jay Red, and ..skArr*, along with others. He recently released his first mixtape but admits to being more than a bit unhappy with it, stating, "I've learned from the mistakes and hope to develop even better tracks."
Lately, Rahat has been working at the historic Legend's Studio, a place that has been graced by hip-hop heavyweights such as The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, Jay-Z, and many others. He credits his main source of inspiration to his girlfriend of three years, Mun, a singer who has been featured on his songs. He also draws inspiration from everyday life and often tries to "incorporate different styles" into his music.
His biggest aspiration? "To make it as an independent artist and follow in the footsteps of other indie artists such as Immortal Technique and Rakim." Rahat also hopes to continue working as a producer to help other artists in the industry. He considers music his life and has devoted himself entirely to his craft.
