Band Story

Mark's Father's Indian Name was REDFEATHER and his Mother's Name was Rosella (ROSE). He is honoring the Memory of both his parents by naming his company REDFEATHER ROSE: Even though Mark is an Enrolled Member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans, He was born and raised in suburban America. The only time Mark spent time on the "REZ", was during his summer vacations as a child. Those times are filled with Wonderful Memories and warm/loving People. His music is not about being Native American or Mohican. Mark explains that his music is about being proud of your Heritage no matter what that may be. This world is held together by each and every culture that has been imbedded into it's collective. Mark says that his music is inspired by many Native American, and Non-Native American Artists. The most influential was John Huling and his Album "Canyon Spirit". This was the first Native American Flute Album he ever bought and listened to. Mark still believes that John captured the spirit of this magnificient instrument in that album and believes that the album is a tribute to the Native American Flute at it's “Basic Best“. Mark explains that he likes to maintain the "Basics" of the flute. "Just you, the flute, and natural surroundings", - "That's what it's all about" So, In 2002, Mark purchased his first Native American Flute. It was a year before he decided to spend the proper time to practice and get to know this very unique instrument. It’s been a Sacred and Spiritual Journey since. Mark has created his own Recording Studio and Recording Label. He also published his own music. After recording five Albums in his Home Studio, Mark Arrived at his latest CD, Red Hand, which Contains Traditional Native Melodies, Traditional Christian Melodies and several of Mark's own melodies in the Traditional Style. Until June 2005, Mark billed himself has “Mohican Renegade”. Then Mark decided to use his Real Name. People were a little more receptive to this.
