Mohican Flute

Band Story
Mark E. Church, an enrolled member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans, is a Native American flute musician and founder of Red Feather Rose Entertainment. Born and raised in suburban America, Mark's connection to his heritage was nurtured during childhood summer visits to the reservation, experiences that left him with cherished memories of community and culture.
In 2002, Mark purchased his first Native American flute, inspired by John Huling's album "Canyon Spirit," which he regards as a tribute to the instrument's purest form. After a year of dedicated practice, he began composing and recording music that blends traditional Native American melodies with Christian themes and his own compositions. His sixth album, "Red Hand," exemplifies this fusion, offering a collection of traditional Native melodies, Christian hymns, and original pieces in the traditional style.
Mark honors his parents through his company name, Red Feather Rose—'Red Feather' being his father's Indian name and 'Rose' referencing his mother, Rosella. Through his music, he encourages pride in one's heritage, emphasizing that every culture contributes to the world's collective identity.
Operating from his home studio, Mark has released multiple albums under his label, Red Feather Rose Entertainment, and continues to share his spiritual journey through the evocative sounds of the Native American flute.
