Gold Tooth Display

Gold Tooth Display is a band that is defined but not restricted. This band is able to combine an eclectic array of influences, that are undoubtedly identifiable, into a unique sound that is original and magnetic. The name itself suggests the southern blues roots that are the most prominent ingredient in this rock n' roll concoction, but the rest of the recipe gives it a distinguished flavor. Gold Tooth comparisons include Lenny Kravitz, Soundgarden, The Black Crowes, Kings X, and Urge Overkill, all of which are proudly acknowledged by the band. Writing them off as a derivative, however, sells them short. Gold Tooth Display was officially born in 1997 with the release of its first full length recording MONSTERPIECE. Brothers Bill and John Nudd (vocals, guitars) Ernest McClendon (drums) and Jason Groves (bass) put their best foot forward with producer David Barrick (Glascow, KY). The result was a collection of songs that earned them modest airplay and sales, roadwork from Nashville to New York City, and a loyal fanbase. Two years of hard work eventually took its toll, and the band resolved to lay MONSTERPIECE to rest and record the songs that had developed in the meantime. "The meantime" proved to be a good thing. Despite the departure of bass player Jason Groves, the band continued the recording of its next release with Lexington producer Duane Lundy. Not only was Lundy able to record a more focused band, his talent and familiarity with the band enabled him to become the new bassist. BLINDFOLD was released In June 2001 and is receiving a warm reception amongst Gold Tooth Display fans.
